How To Back Up Photos on Snapchat?

How To Back Up Photos On Snapchat

It is no exaggeration to say that since 2011, Snapchat has brought many changes to its platform to correspond with the needs and demands of its users.

Snapchat Memories feature also emerged in response to many requests from users. This feature allows users to save their Snaps and Stories in their Snapchat app.

Every time you create a Memory, Snapchat automatically backs it up in the cloud storage. It makes your Snaps available to any device you use to log in to your Snapchat.

The only thing that you need to ensure is that you have backed up every Snap or Story. How can you ensure it? Well, here’s how!

Quick Answer

After saving snaps in your Memories folder, your next step would be to navigate to the “Memories” option in your Snapchat Settings. Then, ensure “Backup Progress” shows the “Complete” status. If it does not, then check your internet connection. You can also turn on the “Smart Backup” here.

If you do not know how to back up your treasured Snapchat photos and videos, scroll down to learn how to do it.

What Are Snapchat Memories?

Once upon a time, three junior-year college students introduced their social media platform in the dorms of Standford University in 2011. They introduced the “Picaboo” to enable users to share their self-disappearing visuals.

Later, it became Snapchat, becoming one of the most popular social media platforms with 347 million daily active users.

Everything was perfect on Snapchat. You could send any picture or video (even embarrassing ones) knowing that it will self-destruct after 10 seconds. But, the greedy users wanted more from Snapchat.

Users wanted to save their pictures and videos on the app to revisit them. Perhaps, users wanted Throwback Thursdays on Snapchat as well, like on Facebook.

Long story short (before I lose your interest), Snapchat introduced the Memories feature in 2016 to enable users to save their Snaps.

The memories folder archives all your past moments on Snapchat to revisit and even share again when you feel nostalgic.

Point To Remember

Your Snaps or Stories will not automatically be saved in your Memories folder. You have to save them manually.

Note

If the “Backup Progress” states “Snaps Remaining” or “No Network Connection,” it means all your Memories are not entirely backed up. You are most likely to lose them if you change your device. Check your internet connection to get them fully backed up.

When you back up your Memories on Snapchat, you can view them on any device you use to log in to your Snapchat account. So, if you lose your mobile or it gets stolen, you do not have to worry about losing all your precious photos.

Snapchat has a contract with Google for its cloud services, which has enabled it to offer you unlimited cloud storage.

Note

Memories cache can still take up a significant portion of your device storage. You can delete these caches to free up your device storage. The good news is that deleting it will not affect any of your photos/videos saved in your memories.
